Today, Justice Minister Nela Kuburović received the Ukrainian Ambassador Oleksandr Aleksandrovych with whom she discussed current and future cooperation in judicial affairs between Serbia and Ukraine.

The Ukrainian Ambassador congratulated Minister Kuburović on the judicial reforms which the Ministry of Justice had implemented up to that point, saying he believed that further reform processes would bring even greater results which normally positively influenced and attracted foreign investors. Ambassador Aleksandrovych explained to Minister Kuburović the judicial system reforms his country was implementing, highlighting the new anti-corruption system. He said that in Ukraine, several independent public agencies were working in the field of combatting corruption, such as the Anti-Corruption Agency, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and the Special Prosecutor’s Office.

Justice Minister Nela Kuburović noted that the Ministry of Justice, too, was making great effort towards combating corruption by way of legislative activities. She noted that there were excellent opportunities for the Serbian and the Ukrainian Ministry of Justice to exchange experiences in this field.

Discussing other areas of cooperation between the two ministries, the Ukrainian Ambassador and Minister Kuburović concurred that both of their countries were working intensely on digitalising the judiciary, especially on the e-judiciary and the introduction of electronic registries which both facilitated the work of the judicial organs and enabled the citizens to have easier access to justice. They also agreed that the bilateral relations between the two countries were at an exceptional level, concluding that the Protocol on Cooperation between the two Ministries of Justice – which could be signed in the upcoming period – would reinforce those relations.
